The Leadership (Fiji) Foundation is proud to support New Vision of (Fiji), a disability-led organization dedicated to empowering persons with disabilities and marginalized communities across Fiji. Through funding and collaboration, Leadership (Fiji) Foundation has helped New Vision of (Fiji) advance its mission of inclusion and opportunity for all.

Founded in 2022 by the late Pushpa Karan and Rajnel Prasad, New Vision of (Fiji) has registered over 2,500 members including persons with disabilities, children with disabilities, single mothers and the elderly. New Vision of (Fiji) focuses on economic empowerment, youth development and inclusive programs to create equal opportunities for all.

With Leadership (Fiji) Foundation’s support, New Vision of (Fiji) has implemented programs that have transformed lives. Here are a few inspiring stories:

  • Jutasa Samuta (Rakiraki): A youth with low vision, Jutasa started a small farming business with NVF’s help, selling vegetables to support his family.
  • Rukshana Bibi (Nadi): A low-vision single breadwinner, Rukshana is restarting her tailoring business with NVF’s assistance.
  • Melinia Vosalagi (Sigatoka): A visually impaired member, Milinia is opening a canteen in her village, providing financial independence and a vital service to her community.
  • Devika Nandani (Navua): After losing her poultry farm in a fire, Devika is rebuilding her business with NVF’s support.
  • Amit Prasad (Labasa): Amit is reopening his grocery shop, which closed during the pandemic, with NVF’s help.

These stories highlight the transformative power of economic empowerment and inclusion.

Speaking on the partnership, Leadership (Fiji) Foundation Chairperson, Rajesh Patel (LF2002) said, “we are pleased to support the visually impaired and marginalized communities of Fiji in their journey toward empowerment and inclusion. By mobilizing resources, we aim to enable individuals to live fuller, more independent lives. This partnership with New Vision of (Fiji) reflects our commitment to creating meaningful social impact and ensuring that no one is left behind.”
